Job Description

Position Objectives: 

The Access to Early Learning (AEL) Social Welfare Worker/Social Worker will be responsible for a range of components within the Access to Learning Program funded by Department of Education.

This position provides wrap around support in order to improve the participation of eligible 3 year old children and their families in a kindergarten service. The role involves addressing system, family and interpersonal barriers that prevent a family’s sustained engagement with their child’s early childhood education. The AEL Social Welfare Worker/Social Worker will be expected to work closely with the AEL Facilitator to support families experiencing complex needs and address any barriers to kindergarten participation.

The role is a 0.4 EFT and working days are Monday, Wednesday or Thursday. Remuneration will be dependent on qualifications and experience.

Desired Skills and Experience

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A person employed at this level will be expected to have specific skills and knowledge required to undertake the role of Social Welfare Worker or Social Worker and have a clear understanding about working with families who may be experiencing vulnerability, complexity and disadvantage.
  • The Employee will be expected to have previous relevant experience in the field and will be required to hold either an accredited Degree qualification in Social Work or a Diploma of Community Services.
  • A current driver’s licence.
